Notary Services

Power of Attorney - Adoption Papers - Certificates of Identity - Certified copy Birth, Marriage & Death Certificates.

Dermot McNamara is a Notary Public appointed by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Ireland.

A Notary is authorised to authenticate documents (i.e. to state that a document is a valid legal document such as a Marriage Certificate, Birth Certificate or Passport) and to witness (attest) a person signing a document to ensure that it will be legally accepted in the country in which it is to be used.

The most common document to be notarised is a Power of Attorney for people purchasing property abroad. In order to save time and expense travelling abroad, Purchasers often arrange for a Notary to witness (attest) their signature on the Power of Attorney, which then allows the person appointed in the country where the property is being purchased, to sign documents on behalf of the Purchasers.

What to bring with you:

If you require a document to be notarised you must bring with you:

  • The document which is to be signed (do not sign the document until you are in the presence of the Notary)

  • Original Passport
  • Check to see if the country where the document is to be used requires an *Apostille to be affixed to the document. If an Apostille is required the document (once signed and witnessed by the Notary) must be posted or brought to the Department of Foreign Affairs, Hainault House, 69/71 St. Stephens Green, Dublin 2. The Apostille is a Certificate which is stamped onto the original document and for which the Department charge a fee of €25.00.
  • An Apostille is a Certificate given by the Department of Foreign Affairs that a document has been properly signed and that the Notary is a duly appointed Notary under Irish Law.
  • Notary fees are €60 for the first document and €15 for each additional document.  There are additional fees if we are required to draft or type documents.
